Betty Jane Johnson

Betty Jane Johnson, 86, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at the WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital.

She was born on February 26, 1939, in Robertsdale, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Harper M. and Nancy L. (Cook) Black. Betty married Fred W. Johnson on May 24, 1986, at the Shippensburg First Assembly of God. He preceded her in death on May 14, 2010.

Betty worked at the former Mt. Brook Packing House and Hustontown Sports Wear. In her free time she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and shopping. Betty also enjoyed cleaning and took pride in keeping a clean and tidy home. She was a member of the Mt. Tabor Church of the Nazarene and a former member of the Shippensburg First Assembly of God.

She is survived by three daughters, Anita K. Bishop and Christine B. Englert and husband Kenneth, both of Hustontown, and Sandra L. Laubs and husband Raymond of Shippensburg; three grandchildren, Keith R. Englert, Kyle R. Englert and wife Harlie, and Rebecca L. Williams and husband David; three great grandchildren, Kent, Keylee, and Micah Englert; one brother, Donald “Donnie” Black; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband Betty was preceded in death by four brothers, Vernon, Harper Jr., Marshall, and Leonard.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Deborah Strait and Mr. Jeff Black will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday morning at the funeral home.
