Betty Jane (Chestnut) Eyer, 81, of Newburg, PA passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 23rd in Newburg, PA.
She was born on Tuesday, June 30th, 1942 in Newville, PA to the late Clarence L. Chestnut and Dorothy E. (Killian) Chestnut.
A 1960 graduate of Shippensburg High School and a 1984 graduate of Harrisburg-Steelton Vo-Technical School, she worked as Licensed Practical Nurse for private home care while tirelessly serving her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose strength, love, faith, and resilience carried her family for generations and will continue to do so for years to come.
Her favorite activities included having family picnics, reading books, putting jigsaw puzzles together, birdwatching, and playing card games.
Betty is survived by two daughters, Kimberly (Kevin) Bushey, Newville, Kristina Eyer, Shippensburg; four sons, Richard (Linda) Eyer and Greggory (Gisela) Eyer, both of Shippensburg, Kirk (Maralba) Eyer, Carlisle, Shawn Eyer, Fannettsburg; eleven grandchildren, Theodore Laukemann IV, Megan Laukemann, Adam Eyer, Ashley (Ebert) Eberly, Drake Eyer, Broady Eyer, Bronson Eyer, Travis Nagle, Paige Eyer, Jade Eyer, Jaclyn Eyer; six great-grandchildren, Arianna Laukemann, Theodore Laukemann V, Eliza Eberly, Ebert Eberly, Holly Gelsinger, and River Nagle; six siblings, Leroy (Linda) Chestnut, Clarence (June) Chestnut, Judy Keim, Janet Neidigh, James Chestnut, and Sharon Schubert.
She was preceded in death by her devoted companion Paul J. Vanasdlen and her grandson Coddy Eyer.
A private viewing and celebration of life will be held for her family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc.
