Berneda Ann Highlands, 88, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the morning of Friday, October 9, 2026, at the Mercy House, Chambersburg.

She was born on October 9, 1938, in Chambersburg, a daughter of the late Lewis W. and Edna (Bard) Barmont. Berneda married Robert “Dale” Highlands on April 13, 1957, in Hagerstown. He preceded her in death on September 27, 2014.

Berneda worked for the former Franklin Clothing Company as a seamstress, retiring in 2001. After retirement, she spent a lot of time being a camp host at Cowans Gap along with her late husband. She attended the Oakville United Methodist Church and was active in the functions of the church.

She is survived by her three children, Dennis Highlands and wife Teresa of Shippensburg, Terry Highlands and wife Debbie of Greencastle, and Sharon Kline and husband Brian of Roxbury; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Berneda was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

She will be laid to rest during a private graveside service in the Norland Cemetery. There will be no public viewing or visitation.
