Barbara J. Wiser

Barbara J. Wiser, 78, of Orrstown, departed this life on the afternoon of Sunday, February 15, 2026, at the Penn State Health M.S. Hershey Medical Center.

She was born on May 30, 1947, in Chambersburg, a daughter of the late Merle and Elizabeth (Brindle) Johnson. Barbara married Kenneth L. Wiser on April 13, 1968, in the Mongul United Brethren Church. He preceded her in death on June 30, 2019.

Earlier in life Barbara worked at the former Stanley Company, Chambersburg, but spent the majority of her career as the Lurgan Township Tax Collector, for thirty-one years, retiring in 2024.

Barbara was known as a homebody, who enjoyed cross stitching. Time spent with her family was very important to her, she loved to play BINGO and go out to eat with her sisters.

She is survived by two sons, Ronald L. Wiser and wife Stacy of Newburg and Daniel K. Wiser of Shippensburg; five grandchildren, Joshua Wiser and wife Jill, Emily Wiser, Kyle Wiser and wife Hanna, Matthew Wiser and girlfriend Tori, and Abigail Wiser and boyfriend Tyler; a great grandson, Jude Wiser; four sisters, Wanda K. Davidson and husband Gary of Orrstown, Joyce D. Kelley of Orrstown, Cindy L. Perry of Upper Strasburg, Patricia A. Rhine and husband Ray of Upper Strasburg, a brother, Randy L. Johnson and fiancé Stella of Upper Strasburg; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and spouse of fifty-one years, Barbara was preceded in death by a great grandson, Jace Wiser; and a sister, Betty G. Clever.

Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, February 21, 2026, in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor David S. Halteman will officiate. Interment will follow in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
