Alma M. Golden, 90, of Shippensburg, passed away the afternoon of Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at her home.
She was born on October 21, 1934 in Gibraltar, PA, Berks County, the daughter of the late Herman W. and Clair M. Lewis Gruver.
Alma was a 1953 graduate of Shippensburg High School and member of South Mountain Chapel Brethren in Christ Church. She worked at the former G.C. Murphy for 30 years and as a secretary at Shippensburg Area School District for 32 years, retiring in 2011. Alma enjoyed doing word searches and vacationing at Chincoteague, but above all else loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by three children, Deborah A. (Richard) Davidson of Shippensburg, Keena W. (Michele) Golden of Carlisle, and Pamela J. Strickler of Shippensburg; seven grandchildren, Kimberly (Mark) Bricker, Elizabeth (Gary) Erb, Becky Leach, Shayne (Courtney) Golden, Justin Strickler, Samantha (Joel) Fogelsanger, and Amanda Strickler; 19 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and her lifelong best friend, Ann Lane of Kentucky.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John R. Gruver and Walter L. Gruver.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. There will be no public viewing or visitation. A celebration of Alma’s life will be held privately at a future date and time.
