Allen Richard “Red” Pensinger, 82, of Shippensburg, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 28, 2025 as a result of an automobile accident.
Born Thursday, September 10, 1942 in Greencastle, Franklin County, he was a son of the late Harry Richard Pensinger and Jessie Kuhn Pensinger Hays.
Red was a 1961 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School and a 1963 graduate of Williamsport Tech. He owned and operated Red’s Body Shop for 55 years, opening the shop in 1970. Red served in the United States Army National Guard.
He was a member of the Mt. Vernon Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Shippensburg. Red was also a member of the Hub City Club and the Minnequa Social Club, both in Shippensburg. He was a founding member of the Mason-Dixon Corvette Club.
Red was an avid NASCAR and Richard Petty fan. He loved hunting, riding his Harley Davidson, and any kind of auto racing.
Red celebrated 39 years of marriage to Alberta May Rosbach Cressler Pensinger, whom he married November 10, 1985.
He is survived by one son, Charles N. “Charlie” (Laura) Pensinger; one grandson, Allen J. Pensinger, and one step-grandson, Alex Rader, all of Shippensburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Thomas Pensinger.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., with The Rev. Reuben Coldsmith officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223 Minutemen. A visitation will be held Wednesday, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road W., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
