Obituary

Kathryn E. Lindsay, 76, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the morning of Tuesday, February 18, 2020, at the Orrstown Personal Care Home.

She was born on February 26, 1943, in Carlisle, the daughter of the late Robert and Beulah (Naugle) Mixell and married H. John Lindsay, Jr. on June 3, 1962, in the Big Spring Presbyterian Church, Newville.

Kathryn worked as a maintenance clerk at the Letterkenny Army Depot of thirty-four years, retiring in 1995. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Walnut Bottom.

As a retiree of the federal government, Kathryn was a very active member of her local chapter of NARFE. For many years, she coordinated their travel groups and planned many trips for the local members.

Kathryn enjoyed living an active and adventurous life. Aside from travel, she enjoyed hot air balloon rides, amusement parks, roller skating, bowling, and dancing. Kathryn also liked collecting Christmas ornaments.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, John; her son, Kirk E. Lindsay of Harrisburg; and her daughter, Monica Bitner and husband Donald of Orrstown. Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents.

Her funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Monday, February 24, 2020, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Rev. Robert Stump will officiate. Interment will follow in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be Monday afternoon from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to either the American Parkinson’s Disease Association or the American Diabetes Association.

Kattie, always a good neighbor and husband John, always doing things together and living a busy and full life. Good memories include waiting and riding the school bus with Driver, Bud Gardner, and MYF events with Leroy, Jim, Gary, Janet, Patsy, Donald and others. What wonderful memories, growing, learning, developing together. May Kattie rest eternally in the Shalom of Christ.
