Richard A. “Rick” Yost, 71, of Shippensburg, departed this life on Friday, May 3, 2019, at his home.

He was born on September 23, 1947, in Reading, a son of the late Charles and Jacqueline Adams Yost. Rick was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, inducted on June 27, 1967 and honorably discharged on July 23, 1969. He married Linda L. Frankford on February 10, 1968, in Adamstown. She preceded him in death on April 23, 2014.

Rick worked as a truck driver for over twenty years, retiring from A.B.F. Freight in 2005. He was a member of the Durff-Kuhn V.F.W. Post #223, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #2500, and the Minnequa Social Club, all of Shippensburg. Rick was also an active member of the Central Pennsylvania Mustang Club of America.

He always liked driving, more so his classic muscle cars, which he had always had an interest in. Rick also liked to work on, modify, and improve his cars, which became his hobby, and then the cars developed into family projects. He loved working on the cars with his family and friends and also taking them to car shows. Rick never met a stranger and was a friend to almost everyone. Many people outside of the family lovingly called Rick either pap or dad.

He is survived by his son, Richard C. Yost and fiancé Kelly Miller of Shippensburg; his daughter, Shannon L. Yost and companion James Shields of Shippensburg; two grandsons, Jordan Yost of Shippensburg and Joshua Brosious of Shamokin; one brother, Alan “Butch” Yost of Mohrsville; one sister, Ann Louise Yost of Cumberland, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Rick was preceded in death by one sister.

His graveside funeral service, with military honors, will be held at 9:00 a.m., on Friday, May 10, 2019, in the Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Pastor Dennis Hudson will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6:00 pm. until 8:00 p.m., at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., Shippensburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans (D.A.V.)

Pappy Rick you were definitely the most kindest and loving man. I know by blood I wasnt your grandson and you still until this very day excepted me as your grandson and my wife Alicia Marie Brosious as your granddaughter and my 4 boys as your great grandchildren. Joshua Issac Brosious is my baby brother and your first grandson. He loved you more than words can ever explain. And I'm honored that I was able to reintroduce Joshua back into your life in 2015. We had a great time for those 2 weeks we spent down at your place. Your family has been apart of my life since 1993. I cant explain it in words how much you and your family meant to me and my family. Pap I will always have a great memory of you. And all I ask is please keep an eye on your family and on Joshua please. Josh is really taking this hard.

You were great to my sons, accepted them as as your own. You always had a sense of humor. You're grandsons were broken ,especially Joshua. You were his hero. Thank you "pops" .

I met Rick at the VFW in Shbg many years ago! What first caught my eye was his beautiful smile that he always shared with everyone! He talked to everyone that came thru that door no matter what just like they were a part of his family! That’s how folks should be treated & I really respected him for that! I try to be that same way to & feel that it’s becoming lost along the way! We have lost another great friend & it really hurts! But just think of all his other family members who have passed on before him who have been waiting for him, such a happy day for them! So to Rick’s family I will say he will always be with you, just in a little different way now! You all know he loves you more than anything in the world!
Ron & I will keep you all in our thoughts & prayers as you go thru one of the most difficult times in your life! Big hugs 🤗 to you all!

My Dearest Uncle Rick, was the most loving and giving man I have ever known. He Truly loved everyone he met, hugged you goodbye in a way that you knew he loved you with all his heart. He was a true war hero surviving Vietnam. I know he is reunited with the love of his life, my Aunt Linda. God Bless you, Rest in Peace Uncle Rick.
Connie, Jamie, Brittany, Brianna, and always your Brother Alan ( Butch)
