Obituary

Doris Jean Cline, 76, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the afternoon of Saturday, April 6, 2019, at her home.

She was born on January 14, 1943, in Chambersburg, a daughter of the late James E. Clendening and Emma Jane Warren Martin, and step-father Franklin Martin. Doris married Lester M. Cline on July 8, 1961, at the Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church. He preceded her in death on June 17, 2010.

Doris was a wonderful homemaker throughout her life. Her life was centered around her family and she took care of everybody…..her kids, her grandkids, nieces, nephews, kids from the neighborhood. Doris was like a mother to countless children and she enjoyed every minute of it.

She was a longtime and very devoted member of the Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church. She was also a founding member of the Lester M. Cline P.A.P. Foundation, of which she was very, very proud.

Doris is survived by her loving family.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Her memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, 2019, at the Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church, Chambersburg. Rev. Garry Culler will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to her memorial service at the church. The Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematiorium, Inc., has been entrusted with her funeral arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lester M. Cline P.A.P. Foundation at P.O. Box 540 Shippensburg, PA 17257.

The world will be a bit more empty with Dory missing. Her easy laugh and accepting nature was always comforting and welcome. Thanks, Dory, for all your support. Be at peace for a life well lived.

Someone please pinch me because i must be dreaming. No it's a nightmare! Glenn and I are so very sorry to hear the aweful news. Sorry just doesn"t seem enough. I was waiting for Dorie to get better so i could go down the street so we could have a gabfest. Oh how I enjoyed those talks! Thinking about her brought back very wonderful memories. When Glenn and I moved into the neighborhood, Les and Dorie were our Welcome Wagon. I was complaining about the water flowing so slow but all is good now. i remember very late night card games and we all had church in the morning. Those mountain pie get togethers were awesome, what a delicious supper. The Friday night suppers at the truck stop with the most wonderful company. Babysitter extrodinare! I don't think Dorie turned anyone away. We should all strive to be just like her and make her proud of all of us! Glenn and I don't want to pry but if you wonderful friends would need anything, I think you know where we live. Again so so so sorry.
